The ISO/IEC 17025:2017 – Laboratory Management System Awareness online training course is designed to provide participants with the requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of laboratories performing testing and/or calibrations. It helps strengthen the capacity of laboratories in the region, promoting consistent quality standards and regional harmonization in laboratory practices.

Course instructors:

• Over 50 years of combined experience in government and private laboratories; 
• Consultant for the Australian Government, WHO, and various Philippine labs; and 
• Technical and Management Assessor for the Philippine Accreditation Bureau.

Course fee: Thanks to support from the AOAC Southeast Asia Section (AOAC SEA), the AOAC South West Pacific Section (AOAC SWP), the Asia Pacific Food Analysis Network (APFAN), and the Pacific Islands Testing Committee (PITC) under the Pacific Quality Infrastructure Initiative (PQII), the course is free of charge.

This is a collaborative effort of the AOAC Southeast Asia Section (AOAC SEA), the AOAC South West Pacific Section (AOAC SWP), the Asia Pacific Food Analysis Network (APFAN), and the Pacific Islands Testing Committee (PITC) under the Pacific Quality Infrastructure Initiative (PQII).

This survey aims to assess the current understanding and training needs of staff working in laboratories that are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited or seeking accreditation. Your responses will help us plan future training programs that are relevant, targeted, and effective. 

Mineral oil hydrocarbon (MOH) is an important emerging issue locally and globally. Having excellent miscibility with oils and fats, MOH contaminants could enter the supply chain from many sources and the detection of MOH is important for preventive and mitigation purposes. 

Despite the potential health concern caused by Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH) and/or Mineral Oil Saturated Hydrocarbons (MOSH) and these had been regulated by European Commission, accurate quantitation of MOAH and MOSH is still a challenging task. This is especially critical for supply chain control of MOSH/MOAH and these can be transfer down from raw ingredients to final food products. 

AOAC SEA, the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority, (Badan BPOM), and the Indonesian Pharmaceutical and Food Supervisors Professional Organization (PFMI) recognized its importance and collaboratively organized this workshop to increase the state of knowledge on MOSH MOAH analysis for Southeast Asia region.

The 4th Annual AOAC SEA Conference will be held at The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam in Bangkok, Thailand, on 28–29 October 2025. The conference theme is Advancing Food Safety and Quality: Innovation, Standards, and Collaboration. The Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP) Workshop will follow immediately after, on 30 October 2025.

Building on the success of previous events – including the 2022 inaugural conference on Food Safety: Regulation and Analytical Science, the 2023 conference on Facilitating Compliance for Food Safety and Quality in International Trade, and the 2024 conference on Bringing Together Government, Industry, and Academia to Advance Analytical Excellence for Food Safety – this year’s conference will continue to unite dedicated professionals from Southeast Asia and beyond. We expect to attract over 200 delegates, with a diverse mix of public and private sector representatives and academia. The program will feature insightful presentations, engaging discussions, meaningful connections, and valuable collaborations.
